National ID Card for the disabled

National ID Card is being issued by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disability. We have identified 25 persons in the Madurantakam Taluk of Kanchipuram District who will be taken to the District Rehabilitation Office in Chengleput on the 29th of May. Once the ID card is issued we will identify the necessary rehabilitation that has to be done for this group.We are partnering with Kalanjiam Trust for this program

National ID Card for the disabled

National ID cards for the disabled is being issued by the Office of the State Commissioner for the Disabled. We have identified 11 people in the Madurantakam Taluk of Kanchipuram District. They were taken to the Chengleput Medical College Hospital on the 27th of May where a team of doctors assessed the extent of their disability. The ID cards will be issued on the 5th of this month. These ID cards are helpful in applying for the assistance under various Government schemes,applying for a reserved post in Government jobs, to get concession in railway tickets etc.We are partnering with Kalanjiam Trust for this program.

Disability Support Screening Camp

DISABILITY SUPPORT SCREENING CAMP

We conducted a screening camp for support to the disabled at Madurantakam Taluk of Kanchipuram Dist on 8th of June 2008.In this camp we screened 15 disabled with different kinds of disability.

1 to be given a coin box telephone for livelihood support

World Disability Day 2008

The world disability day aws celebrated in a grand manner on 6th December 2008 at Meenakshi College for Women. PMJF.Ln. Dr.K.S.Lakshmi, Founder Principal,Meenakshi College for Women and the District Governor, Lions Clubs International,District 324-A1 was the Chief Guest. Padmashri Dr. Gayatri Sankaran, a differently abled carnatic vocalist was the Special Guest.                           

The event started with a entertainment program by Youth Red Cross volunteers from Queen Mary's College. Members from Andhra Mahila Sabha, Indian Red Cross Society,Life Help Centre, Sri Arunodayam, Kalanjiam Trust and Worth Trust attended the program.     

The E-Employment register was also launched. Aids and appliances for Rs 77000 were distributed to the disabled.

International Day of Persons with Disability

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed on 3rd December 2012 at Maharashtra Bhavan,Vepery,Chennai.The event was attended by more 250 persons from Sukriti's partnering organisations-Andhra Mahila Sabha,ASSCOD,German Leprosy Relief Association India, Indian Red Cross Society,Life Help Centre and Sri Arunodayam. The program started with a light music concert by a Chennai based light music band "Chords".

Mrs A.Sivagami, Regional Manager/Head, Inclusive Education,Aide-et-Action was the Chief Guest.Mr S V Subramaniam,Senior Advocate,Madras, a long time supporter of Sukriti presided over the program.Ms Neenu Kewlani and Ms Sunitha Sancheti of Beyond Barriers Incredible India Tour team from Vijay Merchant Rehabilitation Centre,Mumbai were the special guests.

10 micro cellular rubber footwear, 6 tricycles,a cycle repair tool kit, a powered sewing machine and a retro fitted scooter was also given to needy persons.

The International Day of disabled persons was renamed as International Day of Persons with Disabilities by the United Nations in 2007. The UN theme for 2011 was "Together for a better world for all, including persons with disabilities in development". The theme was prominently displayed,both in English and Tamil, in the event banner.
Scope International and Savera Hotels supported the event.
