Inclusiveness was the watchword!

A day of togetherness with great inspiring life lessons, wholesome entertainment, lip-smacking snacks and a meaningful day ended with gifts to all participants.

Sukriti celebrated the International Day of persons with Disabilities on November 25, 2017. Mr Annamalai, General Manager, Retail sales, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd,Mr Rajasekar, Co-Founder, v-sesh, Mr Visakan Rajendran, Entrepreneur and Ms Shalini Visakan, Creative Director, Suvastra graced the occasion.

Inclusiveness is most of the time a closed subject. This is why the theme for the International Day of Disabled Persons 2017 on December 3 is “Transformation towards a sustainable and resilient society for all.’  Reinforcing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda which pledges to “Leave no one behind,” – we at Sukriti are endeavouring to do what we could to reach children with disability – helping them enjoy their childhood.

With a light music programme to start the event by SWARAG – the music loving Rotarians set the day well.  Here’s the snapshot of the event:

Heart-rending stories of change, the hurdle faced by children and their parents were shared. The irony is that they fought these challenges with ease, confidence and convictions, though they had to cross many bridges.
Differently-abled children and adults and our donors filled the hall.
Distributed mobility aids to children with limb deformities, sewing machines for differently abled adults and support for business development

To sum it up - a day of togetherness with a small inclusive society backed by great entertainment, a delight for taste buds and gifts galore for all.

We hope to meet next year – to motivate and encourage this inclusive group that with a lot of hard work, commitment and right support around you, challenges can be overcome.
